- Therapeutic Program Manager
Description
The Engagement Center for Creative Aging is seeking a dedicated and passionate Therapeutic Program Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of therapeutic, recreational, and social programming for our Adult Day Services participants. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an innovative care model for older adults, while collaborating with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals, researchers, and students. The Therapeutic Program Manager will ensure the therapeutic needs of our participants are met, contribute to development of individualized care plans, oversee incorporation of student engagement, and support research initiatives related to therapeutic programming.
Requirements
Program Planning and Implementation (40% of time):
- Assess the therapeutic needs of each participant as well as the center environment, participate in the development of comprehensive and individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to include communicating with families as needed.
- Evaluate participants' responses to therapeutic programs and adjust care plans accordingly to ensure effectiveness.
- Plan and implement a balanced mix of social, recreational, and therapeutic programs, including intergenerational opportunities, on a weekly basis ensuring the needs of participants and families are being met. Seek university-wide collaborations for programming.
Supervision, Management and Development of students, volunteers, and staff (40% of time):
- Role model the implementation of therapeutic programs and provide guidance to staff and students.
- Supervise and train program assistants, students, interns, and volunteers in delivering therapeutic programming and create opportunities for processing and reflection.
- Offer training for staff and other long-term care professionals on implementing therapeutic programming for older adults.
- Serve as a guest lecturer, providing training and education on recreational and therapeutic programs, at conferences, classrooms, and community settings, as relevant and upon request.
- Supervise and manage the scheduling of volunteers, and students, including Service Learning and Field Study participants.
- Engage as part of the management team in the oversight and management of the performance of students and volunteers, and other therapeutic staff as needed.
Direct Care & Administrative and Management Duties (10% of time):
- Serve as a designee in the absence of the Healthcare Coordinator or Director, managing operations in their absence.
- Disseminate research-based best practices and innovations in therapeutic programming through professional conferences and training sessions as relevant and upon request.
- Provide direct care to participants, including personal assistance, meal/snack support, and monitoring for safety.
- Notify the Healthcare Coordinator or Director of any changes in participants' conditions and address any immediate care concerns.
Research Coordination (10% of time):
- Coordinate the integration of research activities relevant to Adult Day Services programming into the Adult Day Services routine by collaborating with research faculty and graduate students.
- Design and implement small group and individual therapeutic programming that contributes to the domain of knowledge in Adult Day Services program delivery.
- Assist the ECCA Director with the design and execution of relevant research opportunities in therapeutic programming.
- Work closely with faculty and students from the Department of Human Development and Family Science and other academic institutions to drive research initiatives.
